Similac® AdvanceTM LF (Lactose Free) is lactose -free, Iron-fortified formula.
Similac Advance LF is recommended:
1) Lactose Intolerance or infants with symptoms attributed to lactose intolerance.
2) Post-diarrhea Feeding: To help assurance that diarrhea is NOT prolonged or repeated due to temporary lactase deficiency.
Protein System:
Protein of Similac® AdvanceTM LF is denaturized cow's milk protein which supports normal growth. Denaturation process by changing cow's milk protein to small & soft cruds makes the protein easy to digest & also helps to reduce the allergenicity of that. The plasma essential amino acid profile of infants fed Similac Advance LF is similar to that of breast fed infants.
Fat Blend System:
The fat blend in Similac® AdvanceTM LF is high-oleic sunflower, coconut oil & soy oil which is a balance composition of polyunsaturated, monounsaturated & saturated fatty acid.
This system is specially designed to:
1) Have an improved digestibility;
2) Have appropriate levels of essential fatty acids linoleic acid & linolenic acid which lead to an excellent fat & calcium absorption that supports visual, cognitive & psychomotor development;
3) Have less incidence of hard stool similar to that found in the breastfed infant due to existence of NO palm olein oil;
4) Assure absorption of essential fatty acid & Vitamins A, D, E, K.
Carbohydrate System: Similac® AdvanceTM LF has a unique carbohydrate system containing both corn syrup & sucrose. This combination is called DuoCarbTM. This system has a registered trademark from Abbott.
DuoCarbTM is specially designed to:
1) Digested by two separate enzyme systems and absorbed by two non-competitive absorption pathways;
2) Have enhanced carbohydrate absorption;
3) Increased potential to realize greater energy and minimize risk of malabsorption;
4) Reduce risk of non-digested CHO entering into colon, which may contribute to prolonged diarrhea and production of excessive gas.
Nucleotides System:
Similac® AdvanceTM LF has TPAN (Total Potentially Available Nucleotides) at levels similar to breast milk which is 72 mg/l is unique in Abbott infant formulas. At this specific level TPAN help to strengthen developing immune system.
